Gay Flag | Rainbow Pride Flag
The gay flag, also known as the rainbow flag, is a symbol of the LGBTQ+ community. It was first created in 1978 by artist and gay rights activist Gilbert Baker in San Francisco. The flag consists of six colored stripes, each with a different meaning:
- Red: Life
- Orange: Healing
- Yellow: Sunlight
- Green: Nature
- Blue: Serenity
- Purple: Spirit
The rainbow flag has become a widely recognized symbol of LGBTQ+ pride and is used in many different contexts, such as pride parades, LGBTQ+ events, and as a way to show support for the community. It is often used alongside other symbols, such as the pink triangle and the transgender flag, to represent the diversity within the LGBTQ+ community.
